We are proud to announce that EAS PhD student Vrutant Mehta has been designated as one of the winners in the 2026 American Physical Society (APS) Division of Computational Physics (DCOMP) Image Competition with the theme “unseen structures.” Vrutant’s stunning winning image depicts the complex turbulence, shock, and detonation structures in the first seconds of a nascent white dwarf supernova. Vrutant obtained this result using large supercomputer simulations of the three-dimensional white dwarf system.
